Anze Kopitar scored twice to become the all-time points leader in Los Angeles Kings history, but Jack Hughes scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period that sparked the host New Jersey Devils to a wild 6-4 victory on Saturday in Newark, N.J.

Nico Hischier scored twice in a four-point performance, Arseny Gritsyuk and Timo Meier both collected one goal and one assist, and Cody Glass added a single for the Devils, who snapped a two-game losing skid.

New Jersey goaltender Jake Allen made 27 saves.

Kopitar, who announced this will be his final NHL season — all 20 with Los Angeles — netted his 1,308th career point to move ahead of Marcel Dionne’s total for the Kings.

Artemi Panarin scored once in a three-point game, Taylor Ward tallied once and Brandt Clarke collected three assists for the Kings, who are battling for the Western Conference’s final wild-card spot.

Goalie Anton Forsberg stopped 22 shots.

With overtime looming, Hughes potted the difference-maker on the power play by converting a one-timer from the right circle with 2:29 remaining in regulation time.

Meier’s empty-net goal sealed the victory in the back-and-forth clash.

The Devils, who are all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, staked a 2-0 lead. Glass opened the scoring with a wobbly shot from the slot at 7:58 of the first frame, and Hischier doubled the lead three minutes later by burying the rebound off his own deflected chance.

The Kings regrouped at the intermission and took the lead in the second period.

Kopitar kicked off the comeback on the power play by redirecting Clarke’s cross-ice pass to the doorstep at 4:15 of the frame.

Panarin tied the clash less than two minutes later with a top-shelf shot from the high slot.

Ward gave the Kings the lead with a one-timer from the point at 11:43 of the period.

Then it was New Jersey’s turn to cue a comeback with a four-goal final period. Gritsyuk evened the affair 25 seconds into the third period by batting home a Lenni Hameenaho pass during a 2-on-1 rush.

Hischier’s second of the game, a power-play marker from pouncing on a loose puck, put the Devils ahead again at 12:42 of the period.

Kopitar tied the clash 4-4 with another power-play goal, a fluttering one-timer from the right circle 60 seconds later, but the Kings could not find another go-ahead goal.

Bruins down Caps in shootout, halt road winless streak

Fraser Minten scored in the ninth round for the lone goal of the shootout, allowing the Boston Bruins to snap a seven-game road winless skid with a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

Boston’s Jeremy Swayman and Washington’s Logan Thompson thwarted each of the other team’s first eight attempts in the shootout before the former denied Aliaksei Protas in the ninth. Minten then went to his backhand to tuck the puck past a sprawling Thompson to end the contest.

Boston defenseman Charlie McAvoy scored a pair of goals to extend his point streak to six games (four goals, four assists). He has totaled 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in his past 16 games.

Swayman made 25 saves for the Bruins, who were 0-3-4 in their previous seven road games. Boston also completed a three-game season sweep of Washington.

Washington’s Rasmus Sandin collected a goal and an assist and fellow defenseman Matt Roy also tallied.

Thompson turned aside 32 shots for the Capitals, who have lost five of their last seven games (2-4-1).

Roy’s blast from above the right circle sailed inside the near post to open the scoring 1:15 into the second period. Roy’s goal was his second of the season and first since Nov. 17.

Sandin, who notched an assist on that play, was denied on a pair of point-blank chances to double the advantage. Swayman extended his right pad to thwart a breakaway bid moments later before making a glove save on Sandin’s shot from the left circle midway into the session.

McAvoy’s one-timer from just inside the blue line fluttered past Thompson to forge a 1-1 tie at 11:57 of the second period.

Sandin finally broke through after his shot from the point deflected off the stick of Boston’s Elias Lindholm and past Swayman to give Washington a 2-1 lead at 3:12 of the third period.

McAvoy drew the Bruins even once again midway into the third period after he deflected Pavel Zacha’s shot past Thompson.

NASHVILLE — Third-seeded Arkansas got 29 points from Meleek Thomas, 24 from Darius Acuff Jr. and double-doubles from Trevon Brazile and Malique Ewen to escape with a 93-90 overtime victory over 15th-seeded Ole Miss on Saturday in the Southeastern Conference tournament semifinals.

Ewen scored 14 and pulled down a game-high 13 boards while Brazile scored 16 with 10 rebounds as No. 17 Arkansas (25-8) advanced to face No. 22 Vanderbilt (26-7) in Sunday’s final. The fourth-seeded Commodores bounced top-seeded Florida 91-74 in the day’s first semifinal.

AJ Storr scored a team-high 24 points for Ole Miss (15-20), which included a basket with one second left to send the game into overtime. Malik Dia chipped in 16 points for the Rebels, who nearly pulled off their fourth upset in as many days. They also got 15 from Patton Pinkins and 13 from Ilias Kamardine.

Arkansas outrebounded the Rebels 44-31 and shot 74.2% from the line, though its 4-of-8 shooting in overtime left the door open for the upset.

With five seconds left in regulation and Ole Miss trailing 79-77, Storr took the ball the length of the floor and banked in a left-handed layup with one second left.

Arkansas never trailed in overtime, but Storr’s drive and dunk with nine seconds left kept Ole Miss in position to win by cutting the lead to 91-90.

Acuff hit the second of two free throws and then Storr missed a 3-point attempt from the right side. Brazile got the rebound and hit the second of two foul shots, which gave Arkansas a chance to set its defense.

Travis Perry’s mid-court heave crashed off the backboard as time expired.

Arkansas built an 11-point lead midway through the first half, but couldn’t put away Ole Miss. The Rebels trailed 37-36 at half after shooting 11 of 15 on layups.

Arkansas held a 70-60 lead with 5:43 to play in regulation after Thomas hit two foul shots.

Kamardine hit two free throws with seven seconds left to get Ole Miss within one.

Two seconds later, after a timeout, Kamardine fouled out, sending Thomas to the line where he hit one of two for Arkansas’s last points of regulation.

Connor Hellebuyck, Jets get crucial win vs. NHL-best Avs

NHL: Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg JetsMar 14, 2026; Winnipeg, Manitoba, CAN; Winnipeg Jets center Adam Lowry (17) checks Colorado Avalanche center Nazem Kadri (91) in front of Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck (37) in the first period at Canada Life Centre. Mandatory Credit: James Carey Lauder-Imagn Images

Connor Hellebuyck made 28 saves as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the visiting Colorado Avalanche 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Kyle Connor picked up a goal and an assist, while Alex Iafallo and Cole Perfetti also scored for Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele added two assists as the Jets moved within five points of the second and final wild card in the Western Conference.

Martin Necas got Colorado’s lone goal. Mackenzie Blackwood made 15 stops for Colorado, which holds the best record in the NHL.

In the first period, neither team was able to find the back of the net, but the Avalanche held an 8-5 edge on shots.

The Jets opened the scoring 2:05 into the middle frame when, on the rush, Scheifele found a streaking Connor in the slot, who drove a wrist shot into the net to give Winnipeg a 1-0 lead. The goal marked Connor’s 30th of the season and Scheifele’s 50th assist.

Winnipeg extended its lead to 2-0 with 8:08 remaining in the second when Iafallo took a one-timer off the chest from Scheifele, who fired the puck on net from high in the zone, and was able to spin around and tuck the puck home past Blackwood.

Colorado’s best chance to get on the board up that point came from Brock Nelson, who missed a wide-open net when he slid the puck across the crease and wide with 10 seconds left in the second period.

That miss allowed Winnipeg to maintain its 2-0 advantage after 40 minutes. Colorado held a 16-12 edge in shots heading into the third period.

Hellebuyck’s bid for his first shutout of the season ended with 1:16 left in regulation when Necas pulled in a long pass from Nathan MacKinnon across the zone and wired it past the Jets netminder to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The hope for a comeback didn’t last long, however, as MacKinnon lost the puck near the blue line. Cole Perfetti corralled it and fired a long shot into the empty net 34 seconds later, with 42 seconds remaining, to seal the 3-1 final.
