Mystics survive Fever in OT despite Caitlin Clark's late heroics

Sonia Citron scored 30 points on 10-for-14 shooting and the visiting Washington Mystics pulled out a 104-102 overtime victory against the Indiana Fever on Friday night in Indianapolis after plenty of final-seconds drama in regulation.
Kiki Iriafen racked up 25 points and Shakira Austin notched 12 of her 19 points in the first half for the Mystics (2-1), while Cotie McMahon scored five of her 13 points in overtime during her WNBA debut.
Caitlin Clark hit seven 3-point shots on the way to 32 points for the Fever (1-2), who’ve lost both of their home games. Kelsey Mitchell pumped in 24 points and Monique Billings had 10 points.
Clark’s fifth 3-pointer of the fourth quarter came from the left wing with 3.1 seconds left to tie the game at 89. Citron appeared to give the Mystics the victory with a shot from more than 50 feet away, but the basket was waved off on video review, sending the game to overtime.
Clark had 17 points in the fourth quarter. She was 2-for-15 from the field through three quarters and ended up 10-for-28.
Indiana’s Lexie Hull made a 3 with 6.2 seconds left in overtime to cut the Mystics’ lead to 103-102. Citron made one of two free throws before Mitchell missed a shot at the buzzer that would have sent the game to a second overtime.
Citron made 9 of 10 free-throw attempts.
The Fever lost center Aliyah Boston to a second-half lower leg injury after she had nine points in 21 minutes.
Indiana began the fourth quarter on a 12-2 run for a 70-69 lead with 6:51 left on Clark’s third 3-pointer of the quarter.
Iriafen scored back-to-back baskets and Citron followed with four free throws to surge ahead 83-76 with 1:41 to go thanks to an 8-0 run.
But Mitchell’s 3-pointer pulled the Fever within 87-84 with 28 seconds to play. A Washington turnover led to two Myisha Hines-Allen free throws with 5.8 seconds left.
Citron hit two more free throws to extend the lead to three before Clark’s game-tying three.
The Fever led 26-13 in the first quarter, but they managed only 11 points for the rest of the half. Washington was up 41-37 at the break.

Gina Carano says she lost 100 pounds to fight Ronda Rousey

Rousey weighed in at 142 pounds, while Carano checked in at 141.4.
Carano took to social media following the weigh-in to speak about that number, which represented a major milestone for her.
“I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs. Since Sept 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs,” Carano revealed in an X.com post. “It hurts to say that and share but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half to shed this weight. It did not happen overnight.
She thanked Rousey, “who waited patiently while I lost this weight,” also crediting Rousey with giving her “something to aim for.”
A pair of titans on the MMA stage, neither Rousey nor Carano has fought since 2016, with Carano not taking to the ring since 2009. They will be a part of the MMA fight card of Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions live on Netflix, an event that collects several former UFC stars.
Rousey, 39, made most of her career waves (12-2) at a slightly lower weight (135-pound bantamweight), though Carano, 44, should feel more at home, as she compiled a 7-1 record fighting mostly at 140.

Pistons separate from Cavaliers in second half to force Game 7

Mandatory Credit: Ken Blaze-Imagn Images Cade Cunningham scored 21 points and dished out eight assists as the Detroit Pistons soundly beat the host Cleveland Cavaliers 115-94 in Game 6 on Friday night, extending the Eastern Conference semifinal series to a decisive seventh game.
Jalen Duren had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Paul Reed scored 17 points in 16 minutes and Ausar Thompson added 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals before fouling out for the top-seeded Pistons.
Game 7 is Sunday in Detroit.
James Harden had 23 points, seven rebounds and eight turnovers for the fourth-seeded Cavaliers, who lost at home for the first time in seven playoff games. Donovan Mitchell scored 18 points on 6-of-20 shooting and Evan Mobley added 18 points.
The Pistons had lost nine straight postseason games in Cleveland dating back to 2006. Detroit, which outscored the Cavaliers 61-43 in the second half, racked up 28 total points on 20 forced turnovers.
Cunningham and Dannis Jenkins each made 3-pointers, and Thompson had a resounding dunk as Detroit built a 68-55 advantage 3:10 into the third quarter. Marcus Sasser went coast-to-coast for a floater at the buzzer to push it out to 84-70.
The Pistons didn’t let up in the fourth, sending most of the crowd home early on Daniss Jenkins’ 3-pointer with 2:22 remaining that made it 112-91. Jenkins finished with 15 points and Sasser scored nine points in 18 minutes.
Thompson was called for a flagrant foul on Sam Merrill, grabbing his neck with both hands and shoving him to the floor, with the Pistons leading 41-29 in the second. Merrill scored the next five points, fueling the Cavaliers to pull within 54-51 at halftime.
Cunningham had 16 points, five assists and five turnovers at intermission, while Duren posted his best half of the series with nine points and six rebounds. Mitchell led Cleveland with 13 points and Harden had seven points and five turnovers.
Thompson made a free throw to extend Detroit’s advantage to 39-27 early in the second, capping a 22-4 run. The surge began when Sasser entered the contest.
Caris LeVert made a pair of 3-pointers off the bench in the first for the Pistons, who led 27-25 after 12 minutes. Detroit converted eight first-quarter turnovers into nine points.

A’ja Wilson's 45 points spark Aces to another win vs. Sun

Wilson, a four-time WNBA MVP, was 15 of 18 from the field, 2 of 2 from 3-point range and 13 of 13 from the free-throw line. It was her most points since she had a career-high 53 in Atlanta in August 2023.
Las Vegas, who never trailed, posted its second win over the winless Sun in the last three days.
Chennedy Carter scored 18 off the bench for the Aces. Chelsea Gray added 12 points and 10 assists.
Six Sun players scored in double figures, led by Hailey Van Lith, who had 17. Saniya Rivers added 14.
After dusting the Sun by 29 on Wednesday, Las Vegas seemed to pick up right where things left off, jumping to a 28-20 lead in the first quarter with Wilson scoring 11 points.
Connecticut rallied in the second with an 11-0 run that bridged the end of the first and start of the second quarter as Diamond Miller drained a three to close the opening period. Las Vegas led by 10 at halftime.
The third quarter followed a similar script. Las Vegas started with a double-figure lead, but the Sun pushed back. Rivers hit back-to-back threes late in the quarter to cap another 11-0 Sun run to make it 72-70, forcing Las Vegas to call timeout.
On the Aces’ next possession, Wilson calmly hit a three from the wing. The next time down, she absorbed contact, scored and converted on a three-point play, pumping her fists as she sat on the floor.
In the final five minutes of regulation, Wilson seemingly couldn’t miss. She made a layup, two free throws and a shot inside the lane at the three-minute mark. She scored again on a jumper and then on a drive to the basket. She capped her night with a three with 90 seconds left as her teammates on the bench went wild.
Brittney Griner missed the game for Connecticut with a sprained toe. Sun rookie Nell Angloma made her WNBA debut and finished with seven points in 14 minutes. She was the 12th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
