Joshua Jefferson recorded 21 points and six rebounds, and record-setter Milan Momcilovic added 14 points as No. 4 Iowa State cruised to a 75-59 victory over Utah on Tuesday night in Big 12 play at Salt Lake City.

Jamarion Batemon added 13 points for the Cyclones (24-4, 11-4 Big 12), who have won three of their past four games. Iowa State lost to then-No. 23 BYU on Saturday in the first leg of the two-game trip into Utah.

Momcilovic made four 3-pointers to raise his season total to 104, passing Dedric Willoughby (102 in 1996-97) for the single-season school mark.

Terrence Brown scored 18 points and Don McHenry added 14 for the Utes (10-18, 2-13), who lost for the 14th time in 16 games. Keanu Dawes added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Utah.

Iowa State shot 47.5% from the field, including 7 of 23 from 3-point range. Blake Buchanan added 10 points for the Cyclones.

The Utes connected on 45.7% of their attempts and made 6 of 18 from behind the arc. James Okonkwo blocked four shots for Utah, which committed 18 turnovers.

Utah trailed by 10 at halftime but cut that deficit in half on Dawes’ steal and dunk with 16:51 remaining.

Iowa State answered with a 16-4 run to take a 17-point advantage. Momcilovic made three treys during the spurt, including the single-season record trey with 10:59 left in the contest and another 36 seconds later to give the Cyclones a 61-44 lead with 10:23 remaining.

Utah later was within 13 after Okonkwo scored four straight points. But Jefferson and Buchanan each made two free throws to make it 72-55 with 2:13 left as Iowa State closed it out.

Batemon scored nine first-half points as Iowa State led 41-31 at the break. Brown scored 13 in the half for Utah.

Lipsey scored five points during a 12-0 surge as the Cyclones held a 22-12 advantage with 10:01 left in the half.

Utah later received five points from Brown during an 8-0 burst to move within 29-27 with 4:53 to play.

Iowa State responded with its own 8-0 run and Jefferson’s putback pushed the margin back to 10 with 3:11 remaining.

Taylor Hall's overtime strike propels Hurricanes past Flyers

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Philadelphia Flyers at Carolina HurricanesMay 4, 2026; Raleigh, North Carolina, USA; Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim (6) with goaltender Dan Vladar (80) goes to clear the puck away from Carolina Hurricanes left wing Taylor Hall (71) during the first period in game two of the second round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Lenovo Center. Taylor Hall scored the overtime winning goal to give the host Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 comeback victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday in Raleigh, N.C.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored once and added an assist, while Seth Jarvis tallied once for the Hurricanes, who lead the Eastern Conference semifinal series 2-0.

With time ticking down in the first overtime period, Hall drove to the net during a rush led by Sean Walker, had his first attempt stopped, but during the ensuing scramble pounced on a loose puck and got it past Flyer goalkeeper Dan Vladar at 18:54 of overtime.

It was Hall’s first career playoff overtime goal during his seven seasons of post-season play.

Goaltender Frederik Andersen make 34 saves for the Hurricanes, who erased an early two-goal deficit. Jackson Blake collected a pair of assists.

Jamie Drysdale and Sean Couturier tallied for the Flyers, while Vladar stopped 39 shots.

The Flyers had a golden chance to win with an early overtime power play but could not convert.

The series shifts to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Thursday.

The Flyers competed much better than in the series-opening 3-0 loss.

Drysdale’s power-play goal opened the scoring at 4:02. Amidst a flurry at the net, the puck came out to the high slot and Drysdale stepped in from his point position to bury the chance.

The score marked the first time during this year’s playoffs that Carolina has trailed in a game.

It was also Philadelphia’s first goal during the opening period of the playoffs, and the first time the Hurricanes surrendered a goal in the first period.

Couturier doubled the lead 39 seconds later with his first tally of the playoffs. From behind the net, Carl Grundstrom slipped a pass to the top the crease and Couturier was on the spot to slip home the chance.

That sparked the Hurricanes and they were rewarded when Ehlers netted his first goal of the playoffs with a power-play tally of his own. Ehlers set up at right face-off dot and hammered a one-timer set up by Blake and K’Andre Miller at 10:21 of the first period.

Jarvis tied the clash with 8:39 remaining in regulation time, joining an odd-man rush and finding the mark after a drop pass from Ehlers as he reached the right circle.

Carolina outshot the visitors, 35-21, through 60 minutes, but the Flyers pumped 15 shots on goal to eight for the Hurricanes in overtime.

Ivan Herrera's bases-clearing double lifts Cardinals past Brewers

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis CardinalsMay 4, 2026; St. Louis, Missouri, USA; St. Louis Cardinals designated hitter Iván Herrera (48) hits a three run double against the Milwaukee Brewers during the fourth inning at Busch Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-Imagn Images

Ivan Herrera hit a three-run double, JJ Wetherholt drove in two and the host St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 on Monday night.

Herrera, Wetherholt, Victor Scott II and Nolan Gorman had two hits each for the Cardinals, who have won seven of their past eight games.

Brice Turang homered and Jackson Chourio went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a walk in his first five plate appearances of 2026 for the Brewers, who lost their second straight. Chourio was activated pregame, having recovered from a broken bone in his left hand.

A two-run homer in the ninth by Turang, his fifth of the year, pulled Milwaukee within 6-3. One batter later, Riley O’Brien took over on the mound, and he got the last two outs for his 10th save.

St. Louis starter Kyle Leahy (4-3) allowed a run and six hits in 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out five.

Milwaukee starter Chad Patrick (2-2) gave up four runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings with three walks and four strikeouts.

Wetherholt’s two-out RBI single in the second gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.

Herrera’s bases-loaded double in the fourth, after Wetherholt was walked intentionally, increased the lead to 4-0 and sent Patrick to the showers.

Luis Rengifo’s run-scoring single in the sixth, just after George Soriano replaced Leahy on the mound, pulled the Brewers within 4-1.

Masyn Wynn’s RBI single in the seventh and Wetherholt’s RBI single in the eighth padded the margin.

Milwaukee center fielder Garrett Mitchell made a spectacular effort on an attempted diving catch on Gorman’s third-inning liner to right-center that wound up being a double. Mitchell raced toward right, dived and appeared to make a catch in which the ball snow-coned in his glove, bounced up and back down into his glove as he was sliding.

However, St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol challenged the call, and the play was ruled a hit. A still shot showed that Mitchell trapped the ball.

The Brewers also activated Andrew Vaughn from the injured list earlier on Monday, and he went 0-for-4 as the designated hitter. He returned from rehabbing a fractured bone in his left hand.
