Knicks waltz past Wizards for seventh straight victory

Bridges made 8 of 10 shots from the floor to pace the Knicks to their 11th straight win over the Wizards.
Karl-Anthony Towns collected 19 points and 14 rebounds and OG Anunoby also put up 19 points for New York, which had seven players reach double digits in scoring.
The Knicks’ Landry Shamet continued his sizzling shooting from the perimeter by making four 3-pointers to highlight his 14-point performance. He sank six shots from beyond the arc in New York’s 112-100 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
New York shot a robust 52.2% from the floor and 45.9% (17 of 37) from 3-point range. The Knicks also enjoyed a 54-40 edge on points in the paint.
All was not rosy for the Knicks, as Josh Hart and Mohamed Diawara exited the contest with ankle injuries. Hart fell on a Washington player’s foot while attempting to block a shot in the third quarter, while Diawara sustained his injury during the latter stages of the opening session.
Washington rookie Will Riley scored 17 points off the bench and Bub Carrington sank three 3-pointers to highlight his 14-point performance.
Khris Middleton scored 12 points and Marvin Bagley III and Alex Sarr added 11 apiece for the Wizards, who finished 3-2 on their five-game homestand.
New York scored the first seven points of the game and extended its lead to 21-7 after Diawara’s conversion from in close. Anunoby drained his third 3-pointer to push the Knicks’ advantage to 34-16.
New York went up 63-34 midway through the second quarter after it scored 14 straight points in a 105-second span. Towns scored eight points and Shamet sank a pair of 3-pointers during that spurt.
The Knicks extended their lead to 88-56 early in the third quarter on the strength of a 10-2 run. The margin never dropped below 27 points thereafter.

Fanatics apologizes for Super Bowl jersey backlash

Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Fanatics issued a public apology Monday night after fans complained about the rollout of Super Bowl LX merchandise for the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, with frustrations centered on jerseys selling out quickly and patched alternatives drawing scrutiny online.
In its statement, Fanatics said the matchup created “unprecedented challenges for us because of the massive surge in demand we saw from Patriots and Seahawks fans,” adding “we’ve let Patriots and Seahawks fans down with product availability — we own that and we are sorry.”
The company cited the unusual nature of the moment as the root of its supply problem, noting that both teams missed the playoffs a year ago and entered this season with long odds before making a sudden leap to the Super Bowl.
That, Fanatics said, is “an incredibly rare occurrence that led to these two fan bases buying nearly 400 percent more jerseys since Thanksgiving vs. last year.”
Even with increased orders, the company said it has struggled to keep team color jerseys in stock due to overwhelming demand, while promising that more inventory is arriving daily and that it is offering other options.
Some of those alternatives have raised quality concerns, particularly non-team-color jerseys with a Super Bowl LX patch priced at $160.
Fanatics responded, saying it “can assure you that, despite some unflattering photos, these jerseys are identical to the standard Nike replica ‘Game’ jersey — one of the highest consumer-rated items we carry built on the core template that has been unchanged since Nike took over NFL jerseys in 2012.”
Fanatics also addressed price criticism of the $130 “Game” jersey and reiterated that any dissatisfied customer can return purchases for free through its app, including orders made in stores operated by the team and the league.

Northwestern will open $862M Ryan Field Oct. 2 vs. Penn State

Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images Northwestern will host its first game at Ryan Field, its revamped football stadium that cost $862 million, in primetime on Friday, Oct. 2, when the Wildcats open Big Ten play against Penn State.
The date is notable because it will mark exactly 100 years since Northwestern played its first game at Northwestern Stadium, which was located on the same site, on Oct. 2, 1926.
Northwestern will play its first two home games of the 2026 season (vs. South Dakota State on Sept. 5 and vs. Colorado on Sept. 19) at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium, a temporary stadium where the school has hosted most of its football games over the last two seasons.
Ryan Field, which will have a capacity of 35,000 and has been billed as the largest stadium project in college football history, will host each of the Wildcats’ final five home games. That also includes games against Ball State (Oct. 10), Rutgers (Oct. 24), Iowa (Nov. 7) and the season finale vs. Illinois (Nov. 28).
Northwestern finished the 2025 season with a 7-6 record, making a bowl for the second time in three seasons under David Braun.

LeBron, Durant, Curry team up as three NBA All-Star rosters revealed

The rosters for the Feb. 15 game in Inglewood, Calif., were revealed Tuesday, and the “USA Stripes” squad will have the veteran trio of James, Durant and Curry, with a combined 50 All-Star appearances among them.
They’ll be joined on a star-powered roster by Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Donovan Mitchell, Norman Powell, and Kawhi Leonard — the latter a late addition to the player pool Tuesday before the rosters were confirmed.
Because Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss the game due to his calf strain, the World team was short a player to reach the required eight. Karl-Anthony Towns, who was born in New Jersey but represents the Dominican Republic internationally, was moved from the American player pool to Team World, and Leonard was added by commissioner Adam Silver.
The “USA Stars” have a much younger group with Anthony Edwards, Cade Cunningham and Devin Booker. First-time All-Stars Jalen Duren, Jalen Johnson, and Chet Holmgren also made the team.
Under the new format, USA Stars, USA Stripes and Team World will play a round-robin of 12-minute games, with the teams having the best records advancing to the championship game. If all teams go 1-1 in the round robin, point differential will serve as the tiebreaker.
