I’m a home baker and these are the deals worth buying for your kitchen this Prime Day

Like many people, I picked up a new hobby in 2020. I bought a pie-making kit from a local pie shop, and since then, my fridge has been full of butter sticks. I make my own birthday cake every year and a cake for all my friends’ important life events. I pray for bananas to turn brown so I can mush them up into some chocolate chip banana bread. And I can’t let a summer go by without whipping up a strawberry-blueberry pie.

A little sweet treat for your eyes.

When I first started out, it was me and my Hamilton Beach hand mixer against the world. Since baking has become a more regular pastime for me, I’ve invested in more tools to help me make the best goodies possible. And let me tell you, my bank account has taken a hit.
LIVE BLOG: The latest news on October Prime Day 2024
If you’re an amateur baker just getting started or you have plenty of experience but just need some upgrades to your kitchen tools, Amazon’s Prime Day is a great time to stock up on baking needs. Below are some of the best deals on products I’d actually recommend adding to your kitchen.
Prime Day deals you can shop right now

Best stand mixer deal
I was strictly using a hand mixer up until last month when I acquired my grandma’s old KitchenAid stand mixer. So far, I’ve only made a batch of pumpkin bread in it, but I can already tell you I’m not going back to manual mixing. You could cheap out and opt for a more budget-friendly brand, but I’ve tried non-KitchenAid stand mixers and this is one area I’ll tell you is worth the splurge. The Artisan series 5-quart tilt-head mixer is down to $349.95 during Prime Big Deal Days, which is a $100 price cut. The smaller 3.5-quart Artisan Mini is on sale for $249.99.
There are tons of fun colors to choose from, and I’ve got my eye on the lavender cream one if I ever need to upgrade.
Best hand mixer deal
I personally use the Hamilton Beach mixer with the easy-clean beaters, but if you want a professional-grade hand mixer, this Prime Day deal is a good one to snag. I know I just said I’m not going back to manual mixing, but a hand mixer really is an invaluable tool to have in your kitchen. It’s much cheaper than a KitchenAid stand mixer and is super versatile to aid in making cookie dough, cake batter, whipped cream, mashed potatoes, or even shredding chicken.

Best bakeware deal
A pan or sheet is arguably the most important baking tool you need — I mean, without it you just have a bowl of batter or dough. This six-piece set of Amazon Basics bakeware is super cheap for what you get. But hurry, because this lightning deal might sell out. The set includes a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan, two round 9-inch cake pans, a 12-cup muffin pan, a 13 x 9-inch roast pan, and a 13 x 9-inch baking sheet. This is truly everything you need to get started in the kitchen.
Best food scale deal
I’m definitely guilty of just trusting my measuring cups, but hardcore bakers will tell you a food scale is absolutely necessary to get the best bakes. I bought a dinky little pink food scale from a random brand on Amazon and the battery life was abysmal. Don’t be like me. Instead, go with the trusted brand Etekcity and score the stainless steel scale for 29% off.

Best Mothers Day gifts: Show mom some love

Mother figures are the backbone of the world. Yours may be your biological mother, or maybe she’s your mother-in-law, your best friend’s mom, or simply someone whose motherly instinct has helped you through hard times.
Moms teach you the adulting necessities, give advice even if the problem is your fault, and above all, they put up with your shit and (almost) never complain.
The game plan here isn’t just to snag the last bouquet at CVS just so you’re not the kid who forgot Mother’s Day (but definitely also get flowers). And you don’t even need to spend a lot of money. (Peep our list of Mother’s Day gifts that cost less than $50. Want even more cheap gift ideas?
Skip the generic mugs and show your appreciation with a gift picked just for her: Whether it’s something to make a part of her life easier, something she’s mentioned wanting in passing, or simply something to make her feel like a damn queen, you can’t put a price on everything she’s done for you, but heartfelt gifts certainly help.
After all, they say “No matter how hard you try, you always end up like your mother.” But is that even a bad thing?
