I didn’t expect the 2024 MacBook Air M3 to still be in stock at $400 off, but here we are.

I thought this one would vanish from Amazon faster than a Lightning cable port. 2024 MacBook Air with the M3 chip is not only the newest kid on the block, but this particular config (24GB RAM and 512GB storage) is a power user’s dream. And yet, somehow, it’s still up for grabs for $1,099. That’s $400 off. I checked twice.
This is the kind of laptop that makes my current one look like a potato with a keyboard. The new M3 chip boasts an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, which is Apple’s way of saying, “Go ahead, open 43 Chrome tabs and Photoshop at the same time. We can take it.” I genuinely think this MacBook is overqualified for my Google Docs and occasional Netflix, but that’s not stopping me.

What makes this deal even more ridiculous is the 24GB of unified memory. That’s the kind of RAM you usually only see in developer builds or MacBook Pros that cost as much as rent. Pair that with 512GB of SSD and you’ve got a machine that keeps up with your ambition, or your TikTok editing habit. No judgment here.
It’s also stunning. The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display supports a billion colors, which sounds excessive until you see your desktop background and suddenly feel something. The Starlight finish is classy without screaming “look at me,” and it’s absurdly light at under half an inch thick. Toss it in a tote bag and go pretend you work at a café like the rest of us.

Battery life is listed at up to 18 hours, which is code for “yes, you can skip packing the charger.” Plus, it has the usual perks like Touch ID, a 1080p FaceTime camera that doesn’t make you look like a potato, Spatial Audio, and enough microphones to host a podcast you’ll never finish editing.
MacBooks don’t usually go on sale this soon after launch, and yet this one’s hanging out on Amazon like it isn’t one of the hottest laptops of 2024. If it disappears tomorrow, I won’t be shocked. I’ll just be annoyed I didn’t click “Buy Now” fast enough.

Report: Owners finalizing extension for Roger Goodell

Goodell’s current contract expires in March 2027. The extension would keep him place to oversee negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement with the players and new broadcasting deals, per the report.
Goodell, 67, will mark his 20th anniversary as the NFL boss this September.
The report said there is no known opposition to an extension, which could be announced as soon as the special Aug. 26 owners’ meeting in Atlanta where the proposed sale of the Seattle Seahawks is expected to be ratified. The owners also have a quarterly meeting scheduled for October in New York.
The NFL declined to comment on the report from Front Office Sports.
The league’s current CBA with the NFL Players Association runs through the 2030 season. The major sticking point to be ironed out in the near future is a potential 18-game regular season.
The current broadcasting rights deals signed in 2021 were valued at $110 billion over 11 years, but the NFL can opt out early.

Raunchy Stargate SG-1 Episode Is So Bad Even The Show Made Fun Of It

Once any show has been on the air for five years, it will start to wobble under its own internal logic, lore, and mythology. Stargate SG-1 was on the air for a decade, which means those early Season 1-3 episodes sometimes contradict what becomes canon later. In the case of Season 1’s “Hathor,” it’s unclear why a Goa’uld Queen needs male DNA to produce more larvae. Later episodes show that it’s not needed, and they can reproduce asexually, but that’s the least of the issues with “Hathor.”
Stargate Goes Full Species
“Hathor” centers around the unearthing of the Egyptian Goddess of Love, Hathor (Suanne Braun), who emerges from a sarcophagus after 3000 years, speaking English. Drawn to the Stargate, she shows up at Cheyenne Mountain and quickly starts bringing the men within the base into her thrall. Starting with Daniel (Michael Shanks), then General Hammond (Don S. Davis), O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) is the next to succumb, though Teal’c’s (Christopher Judge) Goa’uld renders him resistant to her power.
That sets up a showdown between the men and the women (all five of them), led by Captain Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Dr. Frasier (Teryl Rothery) in the locker room where Hathor is preparing to use a hot tub to birth a new generation of Goa’uld larvae using Daniel Jackson’s juices. That’s how the show refers to it. It’s as awkward as it sounds.
The Writers Chose To Ignore The Episode
Stargate SG-1 would eventually mock “Hathor” in the Season 8 episode “Citizen Joe,” a clip show that highlighted the ridiculousness of those early season episodes. “Hathor” was the first episode in the series where the team didn’t travel through the Stargate, and the only one written by David Bennett Carren and J. Larry Carroll. Hathor herself would come back two more times, as a much more formidable (and better written) villain, particularly in Season 2’s “Out of Mind.”
Ever since Homer introduced the concept of Sirens in The Odyssey, the “beautiful woman mind controls all men” trope is widely used in sci-fi and fantasy shows. Stargate SG-1 had no problem recycling classic tropes and often doing them incredibly well, from time loops (“Windows of Opportunity”) to “that old man can kick everyone’s ass” (Bra’tac), but “Hathor” was a misfire.
Teryl Rothery wasn’t even able to deliver the line “there’s five women in here, and we’re very lonely” while keeping a straight face. The more series re-watches you do, “Hathor” sticks out more and more like one of the worst episodes of the series. Unlike “Emancipation,” which was so bad it caused the writers to rework Carter’s character, “Hathor” has no silver lining, other than the self-styled goddess having more character, personality, and better lines in her later appearances. Her debut episode could be erased from the timeline, and you’d still know everything about her within minutes of her second appearance.
They can’t all be winners, and with a decade of episodes to get through, Stargate SG-1 was going to have some episodes you don’t have to bother watching.

Brooke Henderson announces engagement to Twins prospect

The pair’s post on Instagram Sunday came one week after Henderson nearly won the Evian Championship, losing in a playoff to Haeran Ryu of South Korea. Henderson officially became engaged two days later.
“Engaged! 7/14/26. The beginning of forever,” the post began. “We are beyond excited and blessed to announce our engagement with one another! God is so good for giving us each other!”
The couple started dating in March 2025 after meeting in Naples, Fla., where Henderson has a home.
Henderson, 28, has two major titles (2016 Women’s PGA Championship, 2022 Evian Championship) among her 14 wins on the LPGA Tour. The Canadian’s most recent victory came on home soil at the CPKC Women’s Open in August 2025 in Mississauga, Ontario.
Castro, 26, is a right-hander currently pitching for Triple-A St. Paul, where he is 2-1 with a 4.13 ERA in 10 appearances (four starts) with the Saints.
