The Los Angeles Dodgers placed left-hander Jack Dreyer on the 15-day injured list Sunday with left shoulder discomfort, while right-handers Paul Gervase and Chayce McDermott were recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

In another pitching move, the Dodgers optioned left-hander Charlie Barnes to Triple-A.

Dreyer, 27, is tied for the Dodgers’ lead in appearances with left-hander Tanner Scott at 20. The second-year pitcher is 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA and has 24 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings.

In his two seasons, Dreyer is 5-3 with a 2.76 ERA in 87 appearances (five starts) and did not allow a run in four appearances in last year’s postseason, including two appearances in the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Gervase, 25, went three innings in his lone appearance for the Dodgers this season on May 9 and allowed one run.

McDermott, 27, is set to make his Dodgers debut after he was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles on April 16 for minor league right-hander Axel Perez. He had a 12.79 ERA in five appearances with the Orioles from 2024-25.

Barnes, 30, has made two scoreless relief appearances for Los Angeles this season, including a one-inning outing Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Chicago Cubs selected the contract of left-hander Ty Blach from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

In corresponding moves, the Cubs optioned right-hander Javier Assad to Triple-A and transferred right-hander Hunter Harvey to the 60-day injured list.

Blach, 35, is set to make his Cubs debut after he went 2-3 with a 5.23 ERA in five appearances (three starts) at Iowa. Over seven major league seasons, he is 23-33 with a 5.42 ERA in 156 appearances (70 starts) for the San Francisco Giants (2016-19), Baltimore Orioles (2019) and Colorado Rockies (2022-24).

The Cubs are expected to use Blach out of the bullpen.

Kurt Kitayama shot a 63 to tie the record for the lowest score in the final round of a major tournament on Sunday at the PGA Championship.

The 33-year-old Kitayama, who has three top-10 finishes this season, is the only player to shoot better than 65 this week at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa.

Kitayama is the ninth player to shoot a 63 in the final round of a major and matched two players who won their majors with a 63 on Sunday: Johnny Miller at the U.S. Open in 1973 at Oakmont Country Club and Henrik Stenson of Sweden who won The Open Championship in 2016 at Royal Troon.

The lowest score in any round of a major is 62, first accomplished by Branden Grace of South Africa in the third round of The Open in 2017 at Royal Birkdale; Jordan Spieth won the title.

Xander Schauffele shot a 62 twice since — at the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in 2024 and at the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club in 2023. Schauffele won at Valhalla. Wyndham Clark won at Los Angeles.

Kitayama guaranteed himself a significantly higher payday on Sunday as he climbed 50 places up the leaderboard to finish the championship at 3-under 277. He was three shots back of leader Alex Smalley, who was set to tee off at 2:35 p.m. ET alongside Matti Schmid of Germany.

Schmid was one of five players who were two strokes back of Smalley at 4-under. Kitayama was tied with four players — including majors winners Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Reed — at 3-under.

Kitayama has two PGA Tour victories: the 2025 3M Open and the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

His best finish at a major came at the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, when he was T4 after a final-round 65.

Canadian Leylah Fernandez handled France’s Leolia Jeanjean 6-1, 7-5 in the headlining match Sunday at the Strasbourg Open in Strasbourg, France.

The No. 23 player in the world, Fernandez was the highlight on Day 1 of the traditional French Open lead-in tournament, saving eight of nine break points on the clay surface to win in 1:39.

Fernandez was also 5-of-10 in return games won, compared to 1-of-9 by her opponent. Seeded seventh, the 23-year-old Fernandez will face Magdalena Frech of Poland or qualifier Talia Gibson of Australia in the next round.

Three Americans advanced on Sunday, as Ann Li controlled Australia’s Maya Joint 6-1, 6-2, Peyton Stearns cruised past Greece’s Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-1 and Emma Navarro downed the Czech Republic’s Sara Bejlek 6-1, 6-4.

In the other first-round match, France’s Lois Boisson was able to close out China’s Wang Xinyu 6-3, 7-6 (4) to set up a second-round match with top-seeded Victoria Mboko of Canada.
