Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images The Pittsburgh Pirates placed relief pitcher Evan Sisk on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left elbow inflammation.
The 29-year-old left-hander is 1-0 with a 2.23 ERA in 32 appearances out of the bullpen this season. He last pitched on Monday and his IL designation is retroactive to Wednesday.
Acquired at the 2025 trade deadline from Kansas City, Sisk is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 51 career games (no starts) with the Royals (2025) and Pirates.

Twins All-Star CF Byron Buxton (hip) aggravates injury
Jul 5, 2026; Bronx, New York, USA; Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton (25) hits a single against the New York Yankees during the first inning at Yankee Stadium. Mandatory Credit: John Jones-Imagn Images Minnesota Twins star center fielder Byron Buxton exited Sunday’s game against the host New York Yankees after the first inning due to re-aggravation of a previous hip injury.
Buxton reached on an infield single and was thrown out trying to steal second base while Kody Clemens struck out.
Buxton appeared to grimace while getting tagged out by shortstop Anthony Volpe. He was replaced by rookie Kyler Fedko.
Buxton is hitting .271 with 25 homers and 45 RBIs in 75 games this season and was named as a starter to the American League All-Star team on Saturday. This is his third All-Star nod.
The 32-year-old has missed games due to hip issues twice this season. He drove in two runs in Saturday’s 11-4 rout after sitting out the previous four games because of right hip impingement.

Novak Djokovic sets another record en route to Wimbledon quarters
Jul 5, 2026; London, United Kingdom; Novak Djokovic (SRB) hits a backhand against Roman Safiullin (not pictured) on day seven of The Championships Wimbledon 2026 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images It took nearly 3 1/2 hours against a qualifier ranked No. 132 in the world, but seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic prevailed Sunday for his 106th match victory, eclipsing Roger Federer for the No. 1 spot on the men’s all-time list at the All England Club.
Pursuing Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles, the Serbian legend is just three wins away after outlasting Russia’s Roman Safiullin 7-6 (6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Martina Navratilova holds the overall Wimbledon record with 120 match wins.
Djokovic, who saved two set two points in the first set while trailing 5-2, reached his 17th Wimbledon quarterfinal, one shy of Federer’s record.
The 39-year-old former World No. 1 was also warned for a Serbian obscenity when Safiullin broke his serve in the third set, and apologized for his behavior in his post-match interview.
“Survive to thrive, that’s how I feel,” Djokovic said on Center Court. “So hopefully the thriving part is coming.”
The sun and wind apparently gave Djokovic problems, but he was able to rally from 5-2 in the opening set to force a tiebreaker and win on his third set point. He was warned by the umpire in the third set after going down 2-0, then was booed after hitting the ball away after dropping the set.
In the fourth set, Djokovic rebounded to take a 3-0 lead, then served out the match at love.
“Another hard-fought win,” he said. “Roman started very well. Roman started very well, very aggressively. I didn’t feel so comfortable from the back of the court. I knew it was going to be a challenge staying in the rallies with him. He’s a very solid player… He should be proud of the performance today.”
Djokovic will next play third-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime, who defeated No. 22 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a five-set thriller 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6), 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-1 that lasted nearly 4 1/2 hours.
Auger-Aliassime advanced to the quarterfinals at the All England Club for the first time since 2021, when the Canadian fell to eventual finalist Matteo Berrentini of Italy.
“I have played a few roller coaster matches in the course of my career, but this for sure is at the top of the charts,” Auger-Aliassime said. “It was a crazy match. Great level, high intensity, high focus because you are into the Round of 16. … I feel like there were barely a few points between us in the first two sets.”
Already trailing by a set, Auger-Aliassime faced three set points while serving at 5-6 in the second set, then battled back to save all three before securing the tiebreaker on his second set point.
Auger-Aliassime was poised to close out the match after cruising in the third set, but his Spanish opponent broke back while trailing 4-5 in the fourth set and narrowly pulled out the tiebreaker. The decisive fifth set was all Auger-Aliassime — he finished with 27 aces and saved six of seven break points — as he converted his seventh match point to secure the hard-fought victory.
German Jan-Lennard Struff, 36, advanced to his first career Grand Slam quarterfinal when fellow unseeded player Hubert Hurkacz of Poland was forced to retire with a left hip injury.
Struff led 4-2 in the decisive fifth set when Hurkacz, a former Wimbledon semifinalist, pulled out. The match finished 3-6, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (2), 7-5, 4-2 ret. Struff awaits the winner of World No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy against Japanese qualifier Shintaro Mochizuki.

Brandon Aiyuk takes Instagram swipe at Jayden Daniels
Jul 24, 2025; Santa Clara, CA, USA; San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (in black hoodie) watches his teammates work out during the second day of training camp. Mandatory Credit: D. Ross Cameron-Imagn Images It doesn’t look like Brandon Aiyuk will be a Washington Commander after all.
After numerous social media posts in which he said he’s planning to join the Commanders, Aiyuk suddenly took public jabs at Washington’s franchise quarterback, Jayden Daniels.
In an Instagram story where he tagged Daniels’ account, Aiyuk said, “‘5′ gonna text me talking about some, ‘You’re on my team now. You follow my rules.’
“Boy, I’m a grown-ass man, boy. You gonna have to start running behind your mamma, and I might believe what you talking about. But until then, mmm-mmm.”
Aiyuk is still a member of the San Francisco 49ers, but he’s on the team’s reserve/did not report list. He’s also taken swipes at Niners general manager John Lynch and his former agent, Ryan Williams, calling them “weirdos”. Additionally, Lynch said in January that Aiyuk has played his last snap as a part of the team.
Daniels, Aiyuk’s former teammate at Arizona State, seemingly responded to the wideout with an Instagram story of Houston Rockets forward and Commanders fan Kevin Durant giving a thumbs-down to a fan earlier this year.
Aiyuk then posted a GIF of him holding up a pair of shoes with the message: “Let’s Run it 5! Let’s see! Need you available all son, and I’ll do the same!”
The back-and-forth was preceded by a viral video of a fan during a World Cup match shouting at Daniels, “F— Brandon Aiyuk! … You better not throw s— to him next year.” Daniels laughed in response.
The Athletic previously reported that the Commanders would consider a short-term deal with high incentives if Aiyuk became available, with the hopes he could rediscover his form from years ago. It’s not known if the team’s stance has changed after Aiyuk’s string of social media posts.
The 28-year-old missed all of last season due to a severe knee injury he suffered in 2024, when he posted just 25 receptions for 374 yards over seven games. However, he posted a career-high 1,342 receiving yards in 2023, and a career-high 78 catches in 2022.
