Villanova produces late surge to sink Marquette, earn 4th straight win
Feb 10, 2026; Villanova, Pennsylvania, USA; Villanova Wildcats guard Tyler Perkins (4) drives against Marquette Golden Eagles forward Michael Phillips II (35) in the first half at William B. Finneran Pavilion. Mandatory Credit: Kyle Ross-Imagn Images Tyler Perkins scored 22 points and Villanova closed on an 11-2 run to defeat visiting Marquette 77-74 on Tuesday.
Acaden Lewis contributed 15 points while Matt Hodge added 13 for the Wildcats (19-5, 10-3 Big East), who posted their fourth straight win. Villanova overcame 39% shooting from the field and an 18-of-31 effort from the foul line to sweep the regular-season series.
The Golden Eagles (9-16, 4-10) appeared ready to win on the road for the first time this season but managed only two points in the final three minutes. Royce Parham shot 8 of 9 from the field and posted career highs in points (26) and rebounds (11) for Marquette, while Adrien Stevens pitched in with 18 points as the Golden Eagles shot 49% from the field.
The Golden Eagles led by a point with just over eight minutes left before Stevens’ 3-pointer ignited an 8-0 run.
However, the Wildcats quickly responded with a 9-0 stretch. Perkins hit back-to-back 3-pointers before Hodge’s triple rattled in to tie the game at 66-all.
Marquette answered again, this time with 3-pointers from Ben Gold and Chase Ross. Perkins drained a 3-pointer on the other end, sparking a 9-0 spurt that put the Wildcats up 75-72. Lewis’ twisting layup put Villanova ahead in the midst of that stretch.
Nigel James Jr.’s layup with 14.8 seconds left made it a one-point game before Devin Askew responded with two free throws. On their final possession, the Golden Eagles wasted nearly the entire clock before Stevens’ long 3-point attempt was snuffed by Perkins at the buzzer.
Villanova opened a double-digit advantage midway through the first half. The Wildcats led by 10 with less than six minutes left in the half before the Golden Eagles chipped away to get within 36-32 at the break.
The Golden Eagles opened the second half on a 7-2 run to take a one-point lead. Several minutes later, Lewis scored five quick points to put the Wildcats ahead 47-41.
Continuing the back-and-forth theme, Marquette used a 14-3 run to take a 58-53 lead midway through the second half. Parham scored nine points during that surge.

Mandatory Credit: Arianna Grainey-Imagn Images Dillon Brooks scored 15 of his 23 points in the first quarter, Devin Booker added 19 points, and the host Phoenix Suns broke a three-game home losing streak with a 120-111 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
Mark Williams scored 13 points, Oso Ighodaro had 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, and Royce O’Neale chipped in 12 points for the Suns, who led by 31 late in the second quarter before holding on.
Naji Marshall scored 31 points off the bench and Cooper Flagg scored 27 points for the Mavericks, who have lost eight in a row — the last three after sending Anthony Davis to Washington at the trade deadline.
Marshall’s floater brought the Mavericks within 115-109 with 2:09 remaining, the closest the Mavs had been since the first quarter, before Booker made a jumper and a free throw for a nine-point cushion. P.J. Washington and Brooks traded baskets to end the scoring.
O’Neale made four 3-pointers and Booker made three as the Suns went 16 of 50 from distance. Dallas was 5 of 22, Marshall and Washington hitting two apiece.
The Mavericks stayed in the game by making 32 of 44 free throw attempts. Flagg was 11 of 14. The Suns were 6 of 9.
The Suns, who led 65-48 at halftime, won their first home game since beating Cleveland 126-113 on Jan. 30.
Brooks’ 15 first-quarter points came on 7 of 9 shooting, and his 3-pointer triggered a 16-3 run that gave the Suns a 36-16 lead at the end of the quarter. Jalen Green had nine points off the bench in the period.
The Suns stretched the lead to 61-30 on Brooks’ jumper with 4:37 remaining in the half before the Mavericks began working their way back.
Flagg scored eight points as the Mavs used an 18-1 run late in the first half to close to 62-48 before O’Neale’s 3-pointer made it 65-48 at half.
O’Neale’s 3-pointer gave the Suns an 81-57 lead midway through the third quarter, and the lead was 96-75 after three quarters.
Flagg’s three-point play brought Dallas within 102-89 with nine minutes left, starting a late run.
The Mavericks played without Klay Thompson (rest). Suns guard Grayson Allen (knee) missed his second straight game.

TCU stuns No. 5 Iowa State on Jayden Pierre's late 3-pointer
Feb 10, 2026; Fort Worth, Texas, USA; TCU Horned Frogs guard Jayden Pierre (1) looks to create space in the lane as Iowa State Cyclones forward Blake Buchanan (23) defends during the first half at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. Mandatory Credit: Raymond Carlin III-Imagn Images Jayden Pierre hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 48 seconds to play to lift TCU to a 62-55 upset of No. 5 Iowa State in a Big 12 Conference clash on Tuesday in Fort Worth, Texas.
Micah Robinson and Tanner Toolson each scored 17 points to lead the Horned Frogs (15-9, 5-6 Big 12). Pierre added nine points as TCU won its second straight game.
Joshua Jefferson scored 12 points, pulled down eight rebounds and handed out nine assists for the Cyclones (21-3, 8-3). Tamin Lipsey also tallied 12 points and Milan Momcilovic added 11 for Iowa State, which had its five-game winning streak snapped.
After an Iowa State turnover, Pierre’s three gave the Horned Frogs a 57-55 lead. Lipsey’s turnover on the ensuing possession led to a Robinson dunk, and TCU led 59-55 with 28 seconds left.
On the next Iowa State possession, Lipsey was fouled but missed the front end of a one-and-one. Toolson hit three foul shots down the stretch for the Horned Frogs to seal the win.
TCU scored 19 points off 17 Iowa State Turnovers. The Cyclones forced 15 TCU turnovers. Iowa State held a 38-28 advantage on points in the paint.
Killyan Toure gathered Lipsey’s half-court bounce pass for a fastbreak layup, and moments later Iowa State took its biggest lead of the first half at 28-19 on a Dominykas Pleta two-hand dunk.
But the Horned Frogs rallied with a 10-0 run that featured threes from Robinson and Toolson as TCU took its first lead since 2-0 at 29-28.
As the first half drew to a close, Jefferson’s driving layup gave Iowa State a 30-29 halftime lead. Later, Toolson ripped off the first six points in a 10-0 run and TCU led 49-41.
After a scoring drought that lasted nearly four minutes, Momcilovic and Jefferson hit consecutive threes and ignited a 10-0 run as the Cyclones took a 51-49 lead on a Lipsey layup with 4:59 remaining.
Iowa State led 55-50 with under two and a half minutes to go, but TCU closed the game with a 12-0 run to earn the win.

San Diego FC dispatch Pumas, to face Toluca in Champions Cup
Feb 3, 2026; San Diego, California, USA; San Diego FC manager Mikey Varas interacts with fans after the team’s win over Pumas UNAM at Snapdragon Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Chadd Cady-Imagn Images With the MLS season on the horizon, San Diego FC continue to show they’re no ordinary second-year soccer club.
The latest example came Tuesday when San Diego disposed of Liga MX stalwart Pumas in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The MLS squad lost the match at Estadio Olimpico Universitario in Mexico City 1-0 but easily advanced on aggregate after winning the first leg 4-1 in San Diego on Feb. 3.
San Diego head coach Mikey Varas told reporters earlier this week that he wasn’t going to tell his team to play conservatively and protect the lead.
“We will never turn away from our convictions for the style of play that we have,” Varas said. “What you will see is San Diego FC going after the game, trying to score goals, trying to score the next goal, trying to be a protagonist.”
But it was Pumas who was the aggressor from the start. The three-time Champions Cup winner took 26 shots to San Diego’s five. They also made more than 250 more passes than their MLS opponent, had 21 crosses to San Diego’s two, and put nine shots on target.
But goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega was more than up to the challenge of keeping Pumas from making things interesting in the high altitude of the Mexican capital.
After a scoreless first half, Pedro Vite (who was transferred from the Vancouver Whitecaps last July) beat Sisniega with a free kick in the 47th minute, sending the ball from just outside the front-left of the 18-yard box over everyone in front of the net and seeming to catch Sisniega off-guard. The goalkeeper reacted too late as the ball skipped in under his right foot.
But Sisniega saved the other shots that went his way and the San Diego defense stood tall in front of him, making 23 clearances.
Up next for San Diego is reigning Liga MX champion Toluca in the round of 16. First legs begin March 10-12.
