How Would (Or Did) You Do Your Wedding Hair?

Photos by Evan Davies Photography
When a friend gets engaged, I’m always so excited, I can’t help shooting them a bunch of questions: So, will you write your own vows? What will you choose as a first-dance song? And how will you do your hair???? Here, three brides share the hairstyles they chose for their special days…
Sleek low bun
“Choosing a wedding hairstyle was a no-brainer,” says L.A.-based interior decorator Jessica Manning. (Remember her house tour?) “I wanted to feel like myself at my wedding. Since I’ve worn my hair pulled back my entire life, a slicked-back bun felt very ‘me.’ I also wanted to feel timeless — I didn’t want to look back on wedding photos that felt timestamped to a certain decade.”
“If you’re a bride, consider how you typically wear your hair. When I wear my hair down, I always end up fussing with it and looking for a mirror, but I wanted to be fully present that day. My stylist set my hair with a gel to give it shine and a clean part; and she added twists in the back, which made the look feel extra special.”
Voluminous curls
“I have naturally curly hair,” says Harling Ross Anton, a writer in Manhattan. “In my ideal world, I would have worn my hair naturally curly to my wedding, and it would have looked perfect. The thing is, even on a crisp sunny day, it’s hard to predict how my curls will turn out — and given that we were getting married a mile from the ocean in mid-July, I knew the humidity would make it even more unpredictable. So, I opted for a more controlled style. As a nod to my natural texture, I didn’t want it to look too ‘neat,’ so I talked to my hair stylist about making the curls look as organic as possible.”
“My hair evolved over the course of the night. I loved it during the ceremony, but I loved it even more when it started to get a little roughed up as the night went on. It felt like confirmation that I picked the right hairstyle for the weather — one that would be gently enhanced by it, instead of at odds with it.”

Romantic Rose Updo
“I used to be an actor, and I always loved the way my hair looked in period pieces,” says England-based writer Elle van Lil. “So, I knew that I wanted a romantic updo for our wedding day.”
“A good friend did my hair, and we settled on an updo with loose curls framing my face. Then, on the day of the wedding, she showed up with the biggest smile and said ‘I’m going to create a rose on your head!’ I trusted her, and the final updo was so beautiful! We got married in the middle of Birmingham, England, and as we walked to the city center, so many strangers asked if they could take a photo of my hair.”
“I also went with a headband because I wanted to wear something special and out-of-the-ordinary. I had tried on veils, but they never felt right. This headband was perfect and made me feel like a Regency character, like Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek in Bridgerton.”
What hairstyle would you choose? If you’re married, how did you do your hair for your wedding? I’m so excited to hear all the details!
P.S. The sweetest proposal stories, and would you wear a short wedding dress?

Release days normally bump the prices of new Pokémon TCG expansions, but the launch of the Pitch Black Booster Bundle has already seen a price drop on Amazon.
As of July 17, the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Pitch Black Booster Bundle is available at Amazon for $54.95. That’s $3.54 off its typical price of $58.49, taking 6% off the six-pack box just as the new Mega Evolution expansion launches. Confirmed when checking price tracker camelcamelcamel, that’s the lowest price we’ve seen since the listing went live in May.
Mashable Trend Report
It also brings the bundle down to roughly $9.16 per booster pack before tax. That’s still above the lowest marketplace prices, but it is a much sharper Amazon deal than the $67.92 preorder we covered earlier this month. There are a few new listings at this price, but the one with the best delivery window is with third-party seller BetterShopping4You — getting it to you as soon as July 22 at the time of writing. This also includes Amazon’s 30-day refund or replacement window.

That said, TCGplayer remains cheaper overall. Unopened Pitch Black Booster Bundles start at $42.99 with shipping included, which is undercutting its market price of $47.12.
You’ll get six sealed titular Pitch Black booster packs. Each contains 10 trading cards, one Basic Energy card, and a Pokémon TCG Live code card, making this a straightforward middle ground between buying loose packs and spending much more on a 36-pack Booster Display Box.
The most valuable chase cards you can pull are also available to buy individually on TCGplayer right now. You can find SIR Mega Darkrai ex, MHR Mega Darkrai ex, SIR Morpeko ex, and SIR Mega Zeraora ex — which are worth up to almost $400.

If you’ve had your eyes on the adorable Lego Ideas Tuxedo Cat, but have been waiting for it to be discounted before buying, today is your lucky day. Amazon’s dropped it to a 90-day low that’s also incredibly close to its lowest-ever price.
As of July 17, you can scoop up this Lego set for $81.99 at Amazon. That saves you $18 compared to paying the full amount, which is a pretty nice deal on its own, but what makes it better is it’s just a couple of dollars away from its lowest-ever Amazon price of $79.95. If it’s one you’ve been hoping to get, now is as good a time as any to shop.
Mashable Trend Report
It comes with 1,710 bricks that create an incredibly cute tuxedo cat, complete with yellow or blue eyes and different mouth pieces, depending on if you want to pose it with an open or closed mouth. And speaking of poses, the cat’s head, ears, paws, and tail can all be rotated and adjusted, so you can find an adorable way to display it after you’ve finished building.
There’s no telling how long this Lego set will be on sale, so be quick to score this deal on the Lego Ideas Tuxedo Cat at Amazon.
It’s certainly not the only Lego set worth grabbing, though. If you want to see some of our favorite picks from this year, have a look at our breakdown of the best Lego sets of 2026 so far for more recommendations.
