Lakers report 'no change' in Luka Doncic's status for series vs. Thunder

Tuesday marked 33 days since Doncic went down with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain and his return is not expected for at least one more week. The Lakers’ second-round series against the defending NBA champions calls for games every other day through Game 5.
ESPN reported Doncic is not expected to play before Game 5 (Wednesday, May 13) in Oklahoma City.
“No update,” Redick said of any adjustment to the Lakers’ availability report on Doncic.
Doncic officially has been listed as out for Game 1 on Tuesday.
ESPN reported Doncic was “nowhere near” playing in a game despite reports he could begin playing 5-on-5 later this week to test his hamstring injury. Due to the risk or re-injury, the Lakers are expected to err on the side of caution while bringing Doncic back. Even if he returns in the series, he is expected to be on a minutes restriction.
“I don’t have any updates on Luka,” Redick reiterated when asked for more clarity.
Despite playing without Doncic, who averaged 33.5 points per game in the regular season, the fourth-seeded Lakers (53-29) defeated the fifth-seeded Houston Rockets 4-2 in their first-round series.
Oklahoma City is the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and went 4-0 against the Lakers this season. Doncic was injured in a 139-96 blowout loss to the Thunder on April 2.

MLB suspends Pirates RHP Chris Devenski, skipper Don Kelly

Pavely-Imagn Images Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Chris Devenski received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine from Major League Baseball on Tuesday for intentionally throwing at Sal Stewart of the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.
MLB also announced Pirates manager Don Kelly was handed a one-game suspension and a fine. He will serve that ban in Pittsburgh’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday in Phoenix.
After reaching a settlement, Devenski’s suspension was reduced to two games, according to multiple reports. The reliever is also expected to begin his suspension on Tuesday.
Devenski, 35, threw at Stewart during the top of the seventh inning of the Pirates’ 17-7 home victory over the Reds.
Devenski has a 7.71 ERA without a decision in three relief appearances this season. He owns a 27-22 record with a 3.93 ERA in 319 career appearances (eight starts) with seven teams. He was an All-Star with the Houston Astros in 2017.

Charge dropped against ex-Titans CB L'Jarius Sneed

Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images A charge has been dropped against free agent cornerback L’Jarius Sneed in connection with a 2024 shooting at a Dallas-area car dealership.
Attorney Michael J. Todd made the announcement about his client on Tuesday, and Sneed posted on social media that the “weight is finally off.”
Sneed originally was charged with aggravated assault in the alleged incident on Dec. 6, 2024. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor for failing to report a felony, punishable by a year in county jail or a fine up to $4,000.
The owner of a dealership in Carrollton, Texas, claims in a $1 million lawsuit that he was sitting in his vehicle when Sneed and another man drove in and shot at him. The lawsuit is still pending, according to ESPN.
The Tennessee Titans released Sneed in March, saving $11.4 million against the salary cap in 2026 and $16.4 million in 2027.
Sneed, 29, never provided the impact for which the Titans were looking after he helped the Kansas City Chiefs win consecutive Super Bowls in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
He played in just 12 games (all starts) over two seasons because of quadriceps injuries after he was acquired from the Chiefs in March 2024. He recorded 26 tackles and three pass breakups in seven games in 2025.
Sneed totaled 352 tackles, 10 interceptions and 6.5 sacks in 69 career games (66 starts) with the Chiefs and Titans. He was selected by Kansas City in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech.

Mets-Rockies game postponed with snow in forecast

The game is scheduled to be made up Thursday at 3:10 p.m. ET. Wednesday’s game, initially slated to start at 3:10 p.m. ET has been moved back to 9:20 p.m.
With inclement weather expected Monday night, Tuesday’s game initially was moved up by three hours to start at 3:40 local time. The area is under a winter storm warning from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 3 p.m. Wednesday. Up to 8 inches of snow is expected, with more near the foothills.
Freddy Peralta (1-3, 3.52 ERA) was scheduled to start for New York against fellow right-hander Michael Lorenzen (2-3, 6.09) on Tuesday in a rematch from Colorado’s 4-3 road win on April 24. It is not immediately known if both pitchers will start in either game of Wednesday’s scheduled doubleheader.
The teams also had their April 25 game postponed due to rain in the forecast in New York. The Rockies swept the Mets in a doubleheader on April 26.
