Brewers reinstate OF Jackson Chourio, 1B Andrew Vaughn

Mandatory Credit: Benny Sieu-Imagn Images The Milwaukee Brewers activated two of their top players, outfielder Jackson Chourio and first baseman Andrew Vaughn, from the 10-day injured list Monday ahead of a series opener at the St. Louis Cardinals.
Outfielder Blake Perkins was optioned to Triple-A Nashville and utility player Greg Jones was designated for assignment in a pair of corresponding moves.
Chourio, 22, could make his season debut for Milwaukee on Monday after he suffered a hairline fracture in his left hand during the World Baseball Classic in early March.
He played three rehab games at Nashville and batted 1-for-6 with three walks. He left the third game after he fouled a ball off his left ankle, but X-rays came back clean and it won’t delay his return to the big leagues.
Chourio had near-identical batting stats in his first two major league seasons: 21 home runs, 79 RBIs, 22 steals and a .275 average as a rookie in 2024, and 21 homers, 78 RBIs, 21 steals and a .270 average in 2025.
Meanwhile, Vaughn helped spark the Brewers’ offense in 2025 after an early-season trade from the Chicago White Sox. However, he suffered a hamate bone fracture in his left hand on Opening Day and has been on the shelf since.
In three rehab games at Nashville, he went 2-for-11 with a double. The 28-year-old is a career .253 hitter with 86 homers and 340 RBIs in 675 major league games since 2021.
Perkins, 29, was hitting .109 with five RBIs in 19 games for Milwaukee this season. Jones went 2-for-21 (.095) with one RBI in 11 appearances. The Brewers were Jones’ third team in three years after brief stints with the Colorado Rockies in 2024 and the White Sox in 2025.

Chiefs waive QB Jake Haener in series of roster moves

The team also cut defensive end Ethan Hurkett and defensive tackle Zacch Pickens and signed three free agents: wide receiver Xavier Loyd, defensive back Marlen Sewell and offensive tackle Kahlil Benson.
Haener, 27, was the Chiefs’ first notable free-agent signing this offseason on Feb. 2, brought in to add depth while two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes recovers from ACL surgery. In March, the Chiefs signed veteran quarterback and former first-round draft pick Justin Fields as Mahomes’ backup.
Haener was a fourth-round draft pick by New Orleans in 2023. He appeared in eight games (one start) for the Saints in 2024, completing 18 of 39 passes for 226 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Saints released him in January.
Kansas City drafted LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in the seventh round of last month’s draft and also has Chris Oladokun on the roster. Oladokun took over after Mahomes’ injury last year and completed 35 of 55 passes for 235 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in three games (two starts).

Front Office Sports said the Dallas Wings rookie guard will avoid punishment for her remarks following the preseason win against the Las Vegas Aces.
“Honestly, I’m more confused,” the former UConn star said when asked about her adjustment to the more physical WNBA. “I thought you could be physical in the W and anytime you touch someone, it’s a foul. So I’m not really sure whether to be physical, whether to — I don’t know. I’m still figuring that out.”
Fudd finished the Wings’ 101-84 victory in Austin, Texas, with 12 points, one assist and two fouls in 21 minutes as a starter.
Dallas will open the 2026 WNBA regular season on Saturday against Caitlin Clark and the host Indiana Fever.

Marlins promote prospect Joe Mack in catching shakeup

Mack hit .244 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 24 games at Triple-A, while Ramirez, 24, was batting .230 with two homers and 14 RBIs in 31 games this season with the Marlins.
Mack, 23, was a first-round draft pick by the Marlins in 2021. He is ranked as Miami’s No. 4 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline.
Mack could make his major league debut Monday night when Miami wraps up a four-game home series with the Philadelphia Phillies.
