No. 21 Arkansas rides depth into SEC encounter with LSU
Feb 7, 2026; Starkville, Mississippi, USA; Arkansas Razorbacks head coach John Calipari talks with guard Meleek Thomas (1) during the second half against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Humphrey Coliseum. Mandatory Credit: Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Arkansas has been one of the more successful teams in the Southeastern Conference recently.
The No. 21 Razorbacks (17-6, 7-3 SEC) have won four of their last five games and are just one game behind conference-leading Florida going into their contest against LSU on Tuesday night in Baton Rouge, La.
Their most recent loss came against Kentucky on Jan. 31, but they bounced back with an 88-68 road victory against Mississippi State on Saturday. The victory came without two injured players, guards D.J. Wagner and Karter Knox, both of whom have started 18 games.
“We know we’re a deep team,” Arkansas forward Nick Pringle said, “so when we’ve got a guy out, next man up.”
Razorbacks freshman Isaiah Sealy played 15 minutes, the most he has played in an SEC game, and had six points, three blocks, two assists and one rebound against the Bulldogs.
“He was ready,” Pringle said. “He’d been locked in all week.”
Sophomore Billy Richmond III made his first start in three weeks and tied his SEC career high with 14 points.
Head coach John Calipari, who used just seven players against Mississippi State, said Wagner and Knox were questionable against LSU.
Even though Calipari was operating with a shortened bench, he still got a team effort. Darius Acuff Jr. had 24 points and eight assists, Trevon Brazile added 19 points and eight rebounds, Meleek Thomas scored 17 and Pringle grabbed a season-high 11 boards.
Arkansas, which defeated visiting LSU 85-81 on Jan. 24, missed its first five shots against Mississippi State.
“We’ve got to get better at (starting),” Calipari said.
LSU started just fine in its most recent game, but quickly saw things turn. The Tigers (14-9, 2-8) rolled to a 31-16 lead against visiting Georgia as they sought consecutive SEC wins for the first time this season.
But Georgia scored the last 11 points of the first half, took a 42-37 halftime lead and led by as many as 17 points in the second half as LSU absorbed an 83-71 defeat.
“I thought there were two things in the difference to the game,” LSU head coach Matt McMahon said. “After a nine (assists) to two (turnovers) ratio, we were three to 12 the rest of the game. Then, after only giving up four offensive rebounds in the first half, we give up 12 in the second.”
Inconsistency within games has plagued the Tigers all season. It doesn’t help that starting point guard Dedan Thomas Jr., who leads the team in scoring (15.3) and assists (6.5), has missed the last two games, and seven of 10 SEC contests, because of a lower-leg injury. His status for Tuesday is uncertain.
Thomas had 18 points, five assists and three rebounds in the Jan. 24 loss to the Razorbacks, which was his first SEC start.
“We can’t separate,” said LSU forward Marquel Sutton, who had 14 points as one of just two double-figure scorers against Georgia. “We’ve got to stay together as a group, as a team, just like we’ve been doing all season.”

Olympian Admits To Cheating on Girlfriend on Live TV After Bronze Medal
They say shooters shoot.
And even though basketball is played in the Summer Olympics, that isn’t stopping Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Laegreid from pulling up at the logo to try to win back his ex-girlfriend.
After winning a bronze medal, Laegreid broke down in tears during his bizarre post-event interview, explaining that he cheated on his girlfriend and only came clean one week before competing in the Olympics.
The love triangle unfolded all at once, as the bronze medalist explained that his performance was impacted by his infidelity toward “the love of his life.”
“There is someone who may not be watching today. Half a year ago, I met the love of my life, the world’s most beautiful, finest person,” Laegreid said, according to an NRK transcript translated into English by Google Translate. “And three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life and cheated on her.”
“I had a gold medal in my life,” he continued. “There are probably many now who look at me with different eyes, but I only have eyes for her. I don’t quite know what I want to achieve by saying it here now, but sport has taken second place in recent days. I wish I could share it with her.”
The 28-year-old is a former gold medalist in the biathlon event from the 2022 Olympics, but he said the guilt and heaviness surrounding his personal relationship negatively impacted his preparation for this year’s competition.
Laegreid mercifully didn’t name the woman on live television. But if that wasn’t enough, the reporter asked whether he thought there was any chance of winning her back after his emotional confession on national TV.
“Maybe I ruined myself now to get her back,” Laegreid said, according to Google Translate.
“It hurts to admit when you do something you cannot stand for and hurt someone you love so much. But such is life now,” he added. “I had a chance at true love and turned out so amazing. It is not certain that it can be forgiven. But if this can give me a tiny chance to tell her how much I love her, I’d rather commit social suicide on live TV just to get that small chance.”
That might be the best interview we get at the Olympic Games, folks. Enjoy it. Cherish it.
They say once a cheater, always a cheater. But in this case? Maybe Laegreid deserves another chance. After all, any woman who ever Googles his name is in for quite a treat when she stumbles across this masterpiece.

Ravens tab Anthony Weaver as new DC
Oct 12, 2025; Miami Gardens, Florida, USA; Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver leaves the field after a game between the Miami Dolphins and the Los Angeles Chargers at Hard Rock Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Rich Storry-Imagn Images The Baltimore Ravens officially named Anthony Weaver as the team’s defensive coordinator on Tuesday.
Weaver, 45, previously served as the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator before accepting the job at the same post in Baltimore. He previously worked for the Ravens from 2021-23, starting as a defensive line coach and run game coordinator before getting promoted to assistant head coach.
“A highly regarded defensive mind, Anthony Weaver has a proven track record of success and is the definition of what it means to be a Raven,” Baltimore new head coach Jesse Minter said. “He elevates players with his football IQ, tactical knowledge and natural teaching ability — all attributes that make him one of the game’s most respected coaches.”
Minter, however, will handle the defensive calls for the Ravens next season.
In Weaver’s second season as defensive coordinator for Miami in 2025, the Dolphins allowed 348.8 yards per game (22nd in the NFL) and 24.9 points per game (24th).
With Zach Orr as defensive coordinator, the Ravens yielded 354.5 yards per game (24th) and 23.4 points per game (18th).
Weaver began his NFL career in Baltimore after being selected in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He spent the first four of his seven NFL seasons playing for the Ravens.

Rockies sign P Tomoyuki Sugano, put OF Kris Bryant on 60-day IL
Aug 31, 2025; San Francisco, California, USA; Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano (19) delivers a pitch against the San Francisco Giants during the second inning at Oracle Park. Mandatory Credit: D. Ross Cameron-Imagn Images The Colorado Rockies signed right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano to a one-year contract on Tuesday and placed outfielder Kris Bryant on the 60-day injured list.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed for Sugano, however multiple media outlets reported it was worth $5.1 million.
Sugano, 36, signed a one-year, $13 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles ahead of last season after spending 12 campaigns with the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball. He posted a 10-10 record with a 4.64 ERA in 30 games (all starts) with the Orioles.
Sugano joins a Rockies rotation that includes Michael Lorenzen, Kyle Freeland, Ryan Feltner and likely Chase Dollander.
Bryant, 34, is nursing a degenerative lumbar condition in his lower back. He played in just 11 games last season and 170 over the first four campaigns of a seven-year, $182 million contract with Colorado.
A four-time All-Star and 2016 National League MVP, Bryant is hitting .273 with 184 home runs and 548 RBIs in 1,054 career games with the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants and Rockies.
