Milan Momcilovic scores 21 as No. 7 Iowa State holds off Baylor

Mandatory Credit: Reese Strickland-Imagn Images Milan Momcilovic scored 21 points as No. 7 Iowa State held on for a 72-69 win over Baylor in a Big 12 Conference tilt on Saturday in Ames, Iowa.
Joshua Jefferson tallied 15 points and Tamin Lipsey added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Cyclones (21-2, 8-2 Big 12) who won their fifth straight game.
Cameron Carr led Baylor (13-10, 3-8) with 24 points and hit 5 of 10 3-point attempts. Tounde Yessoufou added 17 points and five steals and Obi Agbim contributed 15 points for the Bears, who had their two game winning streak snapped.
Baylor shot 45.6% from the field and was 11 of 31 from 3-point range.
The Cyclones shot 50% from the field but were just 6 of 21 from the field.
Baylor reeled off an 11-0 rally in the final 1:42, sandwiched around 3-pointers from Carr and Yessoufou. But Iowa State inbounded the ball cleanly with 1.2 seconds remaining and the Bears couldn’t foul to stop the clock.
The Cyclones used a pair of second-half runs to shake off a persistent Baylor squad. A Momcilovic three punctuated a 7-0 Iowa State run and gave the Cyclones breathing room with a 57-49 lead. Iowa State’s defense tightened and kept the Bears in check before eventually pushing the lead to 15 with 3:04 left.
Yessoufou’s jumper sparked Baylor, but Blake Buchanan’s emphatic two-hand dunk off a Momcilovic miss got the Cyclones going again. Iowa State ripped off an 8-2 run and stretched its lead to 65-53. The Cyclones had a 14-8 edge on the offensive glass.
A tightly contested first half saw Baylor shoot 44.4% from the field (12 of 27) and 42.9% on 3-point attempts (6 of 14). Iowa State was slightly better at 46.4% (13 of 28) and 36.4% from behind the arc (4 of 11).
Baylor took its first lead at 21-19 on a Caden Powell offensive rebound putback. After the teams traded buckets, a deep 3-pointer from Yessoufou gave the Bears a 27-24 lead at the 7:23 mark.
Following a few calls that went against his team, Baylor coach Scott Drew picked up a technical foul at the 5:00 mark. Momcilovic hit the ensuing foul shots and tied the game at 27.
The Cyclones took a 37-33 lead into the locker room on a Nate Heise trey that capped an 8-3 scoring outburst.

JT Toppin, No. 13 Texas Tech scoot past West Virginia

Donovan Atwell scored 15 points, Christian Anderson returned from a one-game absence due to illness and scored 13 points and handed out 11 assists for the Red Raiders (17-6, 7-3 Big 12). Jaylen Petty added 11 points as Texas Tech snapped a two-game losing streak.
Brenen Lorient led West Virginia (15-9, 6-5) with 21 points. Jasper Floyd and Chance Moore each contributed 10 points for the Mountaineers.
Texas Tech made 47.9% of its field goal attempts and 54.2% of its threes (13 of 24). Conversely, West Virginia shot 43.6% from the field and just 9.1% from long range (2 of 22). The poor marksmanship from behind the arc offset the Mountaineers effectiveness around the rim.
West Virginia held a 38-20 advantage on points scored in the paint.
A Toppin three extended the Texas Tech lead to double digits, 30-19, with 5:49 left in the half. Moments later, Petty canned a wide-open three and the Red Raiders led 35-23. Toppin’s hook shot gave the Red Raiders a 39-27 halftime lead.
While the Mountaineers shot 40.7% (11 of 27) in the first half, they connected on just 14.3% of their shots from beyond the arc (2 of 14). Texas Tech lit it up and shot 60.9% (14 of 23) from the field and 72.7% (8 of 11) from three.
After a listless first half where the Texas Tech defense held Mountaineers leading scorer Honor Huff scoreless, West Virginia came out of the locker room fired up.
An 8-0 run featured four close-range buckets as the Mountaineers pulled within 39-35 on a reverse layup from Harlan Obioha.
Consecutive treys from Atwell and Toppin snapped the West Virginia rally and highlighted a 10-0 scoring spree as the Red Raiders’ led 50-37.
A late 13-5 West Virginia rally featured nine points from Lorient and pulled the Mountaineers within 68-63 with seven seconds to play. LeJaun Watts nailed two free throws in the closing seconds for the final margin.
Huff finished with six points – all on free throws – and missed all eight of his field-goal attempts.

Super Bowl LX ticket prices plunge hours before game

The “get-in” price for two tickets was $3,361 across several major ticketing sites as of 3 p.m. ET, according to ticket tracking service TicketData. That represented a 22% drop over the past three days — and a 50% drop since the get-in price climbed to $6,620 the day after the matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots was finalized.
The average get-in price on Thursday was $4,226. Despite throngs of fans flying in on Friday and Saturday, ticket prices continued to decline leading up to the game.

Sunday marks the Seahawks’ first Super Bowl appearance since their XLIX loss to the Patriots 11 years ago in Glendale, Ariz. New England has appeared in three Super Bowls since then, but this is the first in the post-Tom Brady era and punctuates the Patriots’ first year under coach Mike Vrabel.
Super Bowl LX will also be the first title game held at Levi’s Stadium since Super Bowl 50 in 2016.
The record prices for Super Bowl LVIII two years ago in Las Vegas, where get-in prices topped $7,000 shortly after the matchup between the 49ers and Chiefs was finalized, aren’t in jeopardy. The average get-in price ultimately rose to a record of nearly $8,900 before dipping to just over $7,000 on game day.
Last year’s Super Bowl prices eventually dropped to an average of $2,109 on game day, due in large part to New Orleans’ limited hotel capacity along with what was dubbed “Chiefs fatigue” leading into the game dominated by Philadelphia against Kansas City.
Seattle remains a consensus 4.5-point favorite to beat New England in Super Bowl LX. The lines have been consistent among major sportsbooks at 4.5 points for the past week.

Balanced Cincinnati tramples UCF by 20

Moustapha Thiam posted 15 points and seven rebounds as he returned to action against his previous school after missing the last two games with an ankle injury.
Jizzle James scored 15 points and Jalen Celestine added 14 for Cincinnati (12-12, 4-7), which pulled away with a 14-2 second-half run and reached the 90-point mark for the first time in Big 12 play since a Feb. 5, 2025, win at UCF.
Chris Johnson and Jordan Burks each scored 16 points to lead the Knights (17-6, 6-5), who lost their second straight game by 20-plus points to scuff their NCAA Tournament resume after a three-game win streak.
Themus Fulks, UCF’s leading playmaker and second-leading scorer, was held scoreless and had just two assists in 19 minutes. He played just four minutes in the second half.
As they did against West Virginia on Thursday, the Bearcats were able to assume control in the opening 20 minutes.
Cincinnati took a 21-13 lead before UCF’s Jamichael Stillwell (14 points) knocked down a jumper with 5:30 left to cap a 6-0 run and forge a 26-26 tie. But Cincinnati caught fire and closed the half on a 14-2 run, highlighted by a pair of Celestine 3-pointers to end the half.
The Bearcats opened the second half by scoring the first nine points to take a 49-30 lead, capping a 23-2 run that seemingly gave Cincinnati control of the game with 18:13 to play.
UCF coach Johnny Dawkins removed Fulks shortly thereafter and he did not return until there was less than eight minutes left.
Meanwhile, UCF unleashed an 11-0 run that featured three straight 3-pointers — one by Chris Johnson and two by George Beale Jr. — to draw within 62-56 with 9:33 left.
Thiam hit a baseline jumper to end the UCF rally and James added a deep three from the left wing to spark a 9-0 spurt and restore Cincinnati’s lead to double figures at 71-56.
After a Stillwell jumper, Cincinnati scored seven straight points to push the lead back to 78-58 with six minutes remaining.
