Yes, the Ninja Slushi sold out at Best Buy in minutes — but it's in stock elsewhere

UPDATE: Nov. 15, 2024, 4:15 p.m. EST The Slushi was restocked at Best Buy as a Best Buy Drop at 11 a.m. and sold out within minutes. However, it’s still in stock at Ninja’s website and Macy’s, where you can buy it for $299.99.

At 11 a.m. ET on Nov. 15, Best Buy restocked the Ninja Slushi as a Best Buy Drop (Drops is a tab in the Best Buy mobile app that features a running list of items dropping that week, which are often high-profile items like the Slushi, or special deals). By about 11:03 a.m., the daunting “inventory claimed” bar was at 100 percent — one of the fastest Drop sellouts we’ve ever seen.

The speed at which people moved to get their hands on the Slushi in those three minutes paints the picture that the Slushi is impossible to find in stock elsewhere. But this isn’t the case at all: As of Nov. 15, the Ninja Slushi is in stock at Ninja’s website, as well as at Macy’s.

Given the number of times the Ninja Slushi has actually sold out since it came out in July, it wouldn’t be surprising for the Slushi stock at both of these places to dwindle over the next few days. And coming from someone who has been using the Slushi on a regular basis since the summer, I’m here to let you know that you won’t regret hitting “add to cart” immediately. You’ll be far too distracted by the bliss of having Slushi opportunities at your fingertips whenever you want.

Hear me out: Little treats are more crucial than ever in Times Like These (whatever that means to you). But as we know all too well, the whole “it gets dark at 5 p.m. now” thing makes leaving the house the last thing on Earth that we want to do, even if a fun drink or milkshake is waiting on the other side.

The Ninja Slushi is literally a little treat machine, and the mere variety of its menu is the thing I love most about it. The five settings on the Ninja Slushi are slush, spiked slush, frappé, milkshake, and frozen juice, so the possibilities are pretty endless. You can whip up a frozen version of the orange juice you drink every morning or the protein drink you have after your workouts, recreate a fancy drink you got on vacation that one time, bring to life a collection of ingredients that you think would go well together, or literally just pour in soda and make a Coke slushie. The Slushi takes around an hour to take stuff from liquid to frozen, but it can then keep your mix at that consistency for several hours afterward.

Yes, you can pour soda, juice, or wine directly into the Slushi with no other ingredients. The fine print there is that sugar is the main fuel that makes the Slushi slush — so slushing a diet soda or seltzer with no sugar requires having simple syrup or agave on hand. No, the Slushi can’t make ice cream exactly like the Ninja Creami, though the milkshake setting is kind of close. Compared to the Creami that is sitting right beside the Slushi on my counter, the Slushi is much quieter and requires much less prep work.

Admittedly, my Slushi usage slowed down for a hot second after prime frozen margarita weather waned off — but usage picked right back up when all of the chilly weather cozy concoction recipes started flowing. Most recently, my friend and I made frozen apple cider mimosas, and next up is a sugar cookie martini. For what it’s worth, most frozen dessert-like recipes are pretty much possible with the Ninja Creami. It’s on sale at Best Buy for $219.99 versus the Slushi’s $299.99, so that’s an option as well.

BookCon 2026: Authors Rachel Reid, Stephanie Archer talk hockey romance and how it could change the sport for the better

With the fervor of Heated Rivalry, there’s a fierce desire among book readers for even more hockey. On Sunday, April 19, at BookCon, the “You Had Me at Hockey: A Look at One of Sports Romance’s Hottest Genres”, authors Rachel Reid (Heated Rivalry, Game Changer), Emily Rath (Pucking Around), Ngozi Ukazu (Check Please), Stephanie Archer (The Wild Card), and Kate Cochrane (Wake Up, Nat & Darcy) were joined by moderator and fellow author Bal Khabra (Collide) to discuss the rise and continued success of hockey romance.

Khabra kicked off the panel, asking just how hockey became so popular. Ukazu joked that it was as if the genre “escaped containment,” like when the Omegaverse went mainstream, while Reid described the mystery around hockey, saying, “what [the players] are doing seems impossible.” Archer also added that the sport itself is exceptionally hard on the body, and the celebrity around players, especially in Canada, is fun to play with.

But there’s more to the genre’s success than the tropes. “It has to be said,” Rath argued, “that the cornerstone of why this is so popular in publishing is racism.” She went on to say that straight, white women’s voices dominated the romance genre for so long, pointing out that hockey is also the whitest sport. Among major league sports, the NHL is the most predominantly white. In 2022, ESPN reported that 83.6% of league players and staff were white, compared to the NFL, where 25-27% of players are white, or the NBA, where white players make up 17.5% of the league.

Zooming into the genre, the authors also spoke about the writing process. They dove into the deeper aspects of their work, even the smut. Rath said, “I think the least sexy thing you can ever do is write a sex scene.” A similar sentiment came up during Reid’s Saturday panel, where she described using the sex scenes to further the emotional arc. When readers ask authors if they can skip the spice, Archer says of her own books, “No, you can’t skip the sex scenes. You’re missing so much character development if you don’t go on the journey with them.”

The panel turned to the future, too. Many of the authors write BIPOC and queer representation into their novels, in a genre that often centers on whiteness and homophobia. “We’re writing the world as we want it to be,” Rath said.

Reid has found that there is progress toward a future that these authors and their readers want to see, saying that the NHL is interested in working with them. “People on the inside, they really want to work toward change and want to make this happen.”

With the hockey fandom at an all-time high, there’s a whole team behind these authors ready to drive change.
