Scream Directors Announce Horror Comedy Sequel Fans Demanded For Years

The directors behind the modern Scream films are bringing back the movie that helped put them in the spotlight with Ready or Not 2. The original won fans and critics over, putting the filmmaking collective called Radio Silence on the map. It also helped to elevate its star, Samara Weaving, into a household name.
Ready Or Not 2 Is Officially Happening
Ready or Not 2 will continue the world of the original 2019 hit. It featured Samara Weaving as Grace, a woman marrying into an elite family with an ancient deal with the devil. That deal forces the family to play a lethal game of hide-and-seek, with the family having to hunt Grace down and ritually murder her before dawn.
Not much is known about Ready or Not 2 just yet, with the sequel’s announcement coming back in October with minimal details. There are some familiar names attached to the film, with the first film’s writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy returning along with its star, Samara Weaving. No director has been announced for the sequel, but the return of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet is a possibility due to the continued involvement of Radio Silence.
The casting of Ready or Not 2 could be particularly interesting, as the first film ended with almost every character dead. Samara Weaving was joined in the original movie by Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Henry Czernie, and Andie MacDowell among others. Of course, with the movie’s supernatural premise, a character dying in the first movie doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t come back for the sequel.
The Original Was A Big Hit

Radio Silence and Weaving will be trying to recreate the first movie’s success with Ready or Not 2. It earned $57.6 million on a budget of only $6 million, making it a huge financial success. It was a hit with horror fans and it also won critics over, earning a stellar 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
After the success of the original movie, Radio Silence became much more active in the world of horror, Ready or Not 2 could help keep that momentum going. They took the reins on the beloved Scream franchise, successfully bringing back Wes Craven’s iconic 90s meta-slasher. They also put out another original film earlier this year with Abigail, a movie about a group of criminals who unwittingly kidnap a child vampire.
Samara Weaving Is Back For More
Ready or Not 2 will also see Samara Weaving returning to one of her breakout roles. Already an established TV actress and model, the first movie helped cement Weaving as a scream queen, a reputation the actress has leaned into. While she has appeared outside of horror in movies like Guns Akimbo and Nine Perfect Strangers, she has continued to act in horror movies like 2022’s Azrael.
It’s not clear when fans can expect Ready or Not 2, but the fact that the movie is happening at all is exciting news. With so many people returning from the original, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic about the horror sequel. Fans should be on the lookout for casting news and shooting dates in the coming months now that the film has been announced.

Best Mothers Day gifts: Show mom some love

Mother figures are the backbone of the world. Yours may be your biological mother, or maybe she’s your mother-in-law, your best friend’s mom, or simply someone whose motherly instinct has helped you through hard times.
Moms teach you the adulting necessities, give advice even if the problem is your fault, and above all, they put up with your shit and (almost) never complain.
The game plan here isn’t just to snag the last bouquet at CVS just so you’re not the kid who forgot Mother’s Day (but definitely also get flowers). And you don’t even need to spend a lot of money. (Peep our list of Mother’s Day gifts that cost less than $50. Want even more cheap gift ideas?
Skip the generic mugs and show your appreciation with a gift picked just for her: Whether it’s something to make a part of her life easier, something she’s mentioned wanting in passing, or simply something to make her feel like a damn queen, you can’t put a price on everything she’s done for you, but heartfelt gifts certainly help.
After all, they say “No matter how hard you try, you always end up like your mother.” But is that even a bad thing?
